Why is it important to run the latest firmware?
It is the firmware that ‘tells’ the hardware how to function. Changes in the camera functions as well as improvements and bug fixes are put into place by means of firmware updates.
How can you update the firmware?
In this video we give you the steps and some tips. We explain the same here in writing.
- If your camera comes with a backup battery, ensure that it is connected to the charger and has at least 40% battery.
- Ensure you are running the most recent version of the Hubble Connected for Motorola app.
- Make sure your camera is online and you are connected locally. In other words: your smart device is connected to the same WiFi® network as your camera.
- On the camera list page, tap the gear icon of the camera of which you’d like to update the firmware.
- Select ‘Camera Details’ and you can see the Firmware Version listed.
- Tap ‘Check’ to see if there is an update available and if so, follow the instructions shown on the screen.
NOTE: Make sure you do not reset your camera, and that you remain on the same network during the firmware update (1-5 minutes).
The above steps did not help? Here are some further tips:
1. You are connected remotely:
When you are away from home with your mobile device connected to a different WiFi® network or using data the firmware update will fail. In that case, update the firmware locally instead, with both your mobile device and your camera connected to the same WiFi® network, or even standing near your router.
2. Your camera is offline:
The firmware can be updated only when your camera is online. If your camera is offline you may need to reboot it to bring it back online or – if a reboot does not help – you need to delete it from the app and pair it again. Once your camera is online, you can update the firmware.
3. The cache of your camera is full:
In this case, you need to delete the camera from the Hubble Connected for Motorola app, perform a hard reset and go through setup again before you can update the firmware. Be aware that as a result of the hard reset you may lose events and your settings fall back to default. We suggest you save any events you want to keep before the hard reset and you check your settings once done.
Below are the steps for the hard reset and setup (indoor camera):
- Delete your camera from the camera list: If you use iOS, please go to the Camera Settings, tap ‘Remove Camera’, and confirm its deletion. If you use Android™ you go to the Camera Settings, tap the bin icon in the top right corner and confirm its deletion.
- Hold down the ‘Pair’ button on your camera.
- Turn your camera off while holding down the ‘Pair’ button.
- Turn your camera back on, while still holding down the ‘Pair’ button and wait until you hear a beep and the LED starts blinking. This may take up to 20 seconds.
- Open the Hubble Connected for Motorola app and add your camera again.
Below are the steps for the hard reset and setup (outdoor camera):
- Unplug the camera.
- While holding down the ‘Pair’ button plug the camera back in. The LED indicator turns on.
- Wait 10 seconds and then release the ‘Pair’ button.
- Now wait around 20 seconds for the internal reset procedure to finish and the LED indicator starts to blink (red/green).
- Now you can add your camera to your account.
