Can I use my mobile device for audio monitoring?

You can use your Motorola camera with the Hubble Connected for Motorola app and your mobile device as an audio baby monitor even when your mobile device goes into sleep mode or when using a different app.

If you have iOS device:

  • Open the Hubble Connected for Motorola app.
  • Tap ☰ (the Menu icon) in the top left corner  and scroll down to Application Settings.
  • Select ‘Background monitoring’ and toggle to activate it.
  • Set how long you want to keep it active for (4-8 hours).
  • Go to the live view of your camera (if you have several cameras select that camera of which you want to hear the audio).
  • Then close your app by tapping on the HOME button or just closing the app if your iOS device does not have HOME button.

Now, you can listen to the audio from your camera as the app is running in the background. Just make sure not to log out of the app.

Mind that this feature can be used only when you are connected locally (That is, when your camera and mobile device are connected to the same wifi network).

If you have Android™ device:

  • Open the Hubble Connected for Motorola app on your Android device.
  • Tap ☰ (the Menu icon).
  • Tap ‘Application Settings’.
  • Toggle to activate ‘Background monitoring’.
  • Go to the live view of your camera (if you have several cameras select that camera of which you want to hear the audio).
  • Then close your app by tapping on the HOME button. (Please, note, using the BACK button to leave the app does not activate background monitoring.)

Now, you can listen to the audio from your camera as the app is running in the background. Just make sure not to log out of the app.

Does Background monitoring cut out when the screen of your phone goes into sleep mode?: – Then also activate Night Mode (below the Background monitoring setting). This does drain your battery.

Mind that Background monitoring can be used only when you are connected locally. (That is, when your camera and mobile device are connected to the same WiFi network.)
Please note that if you have activated Picture in Picture in the Application settings, background monitoring will not work.
